About Environmental Chimney Service

Richie Baxley – President
Richie Baxley founded the business as Pioneer Chimney Sweep in Reno, NV in 1990. The company was moved to North Carolina where it was renamed Environmental Chimney Service in 1992. Richie joined the North Carolina Chimney Sweep Association (NCCSA), gaining his certification through the NCCSA and the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA). Richie is native to Lumberton, NC. In 1984, he met his wife Kyong Suk in Korea, while serving in the Army. He is the father of two sons, Ben and Aaron. In his free time, Richie enjoys the great outdoors by hunting and fishing.

Angela – Office Manager

Angela was born and raised in Miami, FL. She received her Associate’s Degree in Mass Communications and Journalism from Miami Dade College in August of 2014. Her 9 year old son, Alexander James, is her pride and joy. When she is not handling our day to day operations, she spends her time with her boyfriend Paul and their son Alex. Their favorite family activities include Alex’s basketball games, fishing on the Rocky Broad and Mills River, reading, writing and creating music with Angela on ProTools, Paul on the keyboard and Alex on the guitar.

 

James – CSIA Certified Technician
James is Environmental Chimney Service’s operation’s Manager. He oversees the warehouse and places the orders to make sure all of the Technicians have all of the materials they need for the job.

Growing up in a small rural town in southern Wisconsin, James’ parents provided him with the skills to tackle any job on the family farm. After attending to a two-year community college, he moved to the WNC area and spent 8 years as a grocery manager at a local food co-op. This equipped James the necessary managerial skills as well as departmental over sight. It also gave him the confidence to move back home for a year to operate his family farm while his dad was working overseas in central Africa.

The love of the mountains and people of WNC brought James back in 2015. He finds working with families to ensure their safety very rewarding. On days that he is not hiking, kayaking, camping, biking, or fishing, James brings light and warmth into the homes of Environmental Chimney Service clients.

Zachary – CSIA – Certified Field Technician
Zachary is one of Environmental Chimney Service’s field technicians. He performs chimney inspections, cleanings, repairs, installations and restorations to: Fire places, inserts, free standing stoves including dryer vents inspections and cleanings.

Zachary has been married for four years and blessed with two children. He is a proud father of two young boys at the ages of 4 and 2. He enjoys spending all the time he can with them, when he is not a keeping clients of Environmental Chimney Service safe by performing chimney inspections.

Since graduating from McDowell High, Zack has worked in construction and tree service. He is no stranger to the service industry or hard labor. In the past he moved west and managed a restaurant in Texas which provided him with the necessary skills of becoming an incredible team leader. In his free time, you will find Zachary fishing, hiking, and riding his motorcycle.

Cory – Technician Assistant 

Cory came to Western North Carolina in 2011 from South Florida. Before joining the Environmental Chimney Service Team, Cory was the Professional and Contractor Services Supervisor at the Home Depot, bringing along with him a wealth of all-around contractor knowledge, as well as a great customer service record, even being recognized by the company’s executive vice president.
 
Cory enjoys video games, hiking, camping, backpacking, and running, and has his hands full with a Black Lab and Siberian Husky. Cory’s favorite part of his work is speaking with clients, understanding their needs, and educating them on chimney systems and safety.
Tim – Technician Assistant 
 
Tim grew up in a small country town in Vermont. He started working right out of high school and has a wide variety of skills from Retail Stores to Mechanic Work. He recently relocated to Western North Carolina to live the “Southern Life.” When he isn’t in the field ensuring the safety of your home’s chimney system, he enjoys spending time with his family – his girlfriend Erin, his 8 year old son Aiden and his dog Chewy.
